Medtronic/Biotronik infringement ruling
This article was originally published in The Gray Sheet
Executive Summary
Medtronic will seek determination of damages and injunction to halt German sales of Biotronik pacing products that were ruled to infringe patents held by Medtronic. Features of two Biotronik pacemakers, the Pikes and the Physios, and an external programmer, the Biotronik PMS-600, were implicated in the Oct. 13 ruling by a district court in Dusseldorf, Germany, Medtronic says. The Medtronic patents cover technology for setting optimum pacing energy for each patient and for the Medtronic Marker Channel, which provides physicians with information about patient/product interactions
