Executive Summary
CMS should establish national qualification requirements for sonographers to limit misdiagnosis and unnecessary repeat ultrasound procedures, the Government Accountability Office recommends in a June 28 1report. CMS says state licensing bodies are better able to address technician qualification issues than a national policy.
