Executive Summary

Blood collection specialist Haemonetics Corporation (Braintree, Massachusetts) is merging two subsidiaries to form a new information technology unit for blood and plasma collection called Haemonetics Software Solutions. The company's plasma collection business 5D Information Management (5D) will combine with Information Data Management (IDM), which develops blood bank applications, to utilise each other's strengths and help develop future generations of technology. The newly merged subsidiary will be headed by Tom Britton, former 5D president, while Tim Coburn, previously president of IDM, will become vice-president of business development. Both existing 5D and IDM operating facilities in Edmonton, Canada, and Rosemont, Illinois, will be retained.
