The US FDA has approved for sale Guidant's cobalt chromium Multi-Link Mini Vision stent for treating coronary artery disease in the small vessels of patients with abrupt or threatened abrupt closure. The device, claims the company, provides physicians with the thinnest-strut small vessel stent on the market. Small vessels are defined as those with diameters of less than 2.5mm; approximately 25% of plaque lesions occur in such vessels.
