GE Medical (GEMS) is to distribute Zoll Medical's ZOLL AED Plus automated external defibrillator (AED) throughout the US under a multi-year exclusive agreement. GEMS will sell Zoll's AED to the up to 250,000 physician's offices and clinics in the US - a very underpenetrated market, Burlington, Massachusetts-based Zoll says. The American Heart Association estimates that up to 49% of the 400,000 annual sudden cardiac arrest fatalities in the US could be avoided through public access defibrillation.
