The FDA has told Sofamor Danek that its CD pedicle screw system can be used for treating degenerative disc disease in the lumbar and thoracic regions of the spine. This is the first pedicle screw to be cleared in non-cervical portions of the spine and will have an impact on firms involved in the rapidly growing spinal implant market.
