Canadian company Visible Genetics has received a US patent for a method for identifying DNA samples. The patent covers tubes containing unique "identification DNA" and matching bar code labels on the same tube. At any stage of blood testing, the identity of the patient can be confirmed by sequencing the identification DNA.
