Shark cartilage/cancer study: Phase I/II trial of the safety and efficacy of shark cartilage in the treatment of advanced cancers finds that "shark cartilage was inactive in patients with advanced stage cancer and, specifically, in patients with breast, colon, lung and prostate cancer," Dennis Miller, Cancer Treatment Research Foundation, Arlington Heights, Ill., et al. concludes. The trial, the largest reported to date, entered 58 adults: 15 with breast cancer; 15 with colon cancer; 14, lung; eight, prostate; three, lymphoma; one, brain; and two, unknown.
