Executive Summary
Regular intake of dietary fiber, calcium and antioxidants is inversely associated with colon cancer risk, University of Montreal researchers say. Four hundred-two colon cancer patients and 668 controls in the greater Montreal metropolitan area were interviewed and their dietary habits established via questionnaire. People who consumed either dietary fiber from vegetables or dietary vitamin E were half as likely to develop colon cancer, while calcium and vitamin A consumption resulted in subjects being only two-thirds as likely to develop the disease
