COLIPA CENTRAL/EASTERN EUROPE TASK FORCE TO HELP ACHIEVE ZERO IMPORT DUTY by 2001 for an "on schedule" tax reduction plan between the European Union member states and Central and Eastern European countries, according to Procter & Gamble Regulatory Affairs Associate Director-Central and Eastern Europe Larry Goetz. Speaking at the European Cosmetic Toiletry and Perfumery Association Information Day in Brussels Feb. 4, Goetz noted "a lot of improvement" has been made in the decrease of import duties in Central and Eastern Europe over the last few years, and agreements are in place to reduce almost all import duties to practically zero by 2001. The "vast majority of the import reduction commitments have been honored in a timely manner by both sides of each agreement, [and] I'm optimistic that we'll see lower and lower duties as time goes on," Goetz added.
