Bristol-Myers Squibb seeks to divest Matrix Essentials hair care subsidiary in order to concentrate on Clairol retail and professional beauty care global businesses. The $340 mil. Matrix subsidiary, which includes the Biolage, Amplify, Vavoom, Icon, Logics and Via Dezign brands, is available in 65,000 U.S. salons in addition to distribution in Europe and the Pacific Rim. Bristol's beauty sales totaled $624 mil. through Sept. 30, making Matrix roughly a third of the company's overall beauty sales. BMS hopes to find a company to purchase the business in full, including the 100 Matrix employees
