Laboratories Ylang mass cosmetics manufacturer is acquired by L'Oreal, effective Feb. 1. With sales of more than $17 mil. in 1999, Miss Ylang is the number one mass brand in Argentina with a 25% share of the market, according to L'Oreal. The acquisition gives L'Oreal a key position in the country; Miss Ylang is available in 10,000 outlets in Argentina including supermarkets, perfumeries and pharmacies. Separately, L'Oreal North American cosmetics sales grow 18.3% in 1999. In Western Europe, cosmetics sales are up 9.8% and sales in the rest of the world increase 9.4%.
