Strong Nivea sales led Beiersdorf's Cosmed division to 6.1% sales increase to $1.61 bil. (€1=$.98) in the six months ended June 30, German company announces during in 1an Aug. 13 release. Nivea For Men skin care generated 20.6% higher in sales, while Nivea deodorant grew 14.6% on a global basis, firm notes. Cosmed earnings before interest and taxes rose slightly to $226 mil. Division sales in the Americas fell 10.6% due to economic instability in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico and the weaker U.S. dollar, company notes. Beiersdorf's consolidated sales for the first six months of the year increased 3.3% to $2.41 bil., and earnings before interest and taxes increased 3.3% to $254.3 mil., excluding income from the sale of firm's advanced wound care business...
