Aveda Outer Peace Acne Relief Skincare at-home system is the brand's first "comprehensive skin care line clinically proven to treat and prevent acne using modern botanical science," the company announced. Slated to launch in July, the range comprises Foaming Cleanser, Acne Relief Pads, Spot Relief and Acne Relief Lotion. Targeted to the 56% of teens, 18% of adult women and 10% of adult men who suffer from acne, the collection was found in clinical studies to reduce acne blemishes in 92% of users in four weeks, the Estee Lauder division noted. Products are formulated with tamanu oil, which possesses "strong anti-irritant and antioxidant benefits," salicylic acid to treat acne, saw palmetto to reduce excess oil, boswellia serrata to "support the skin's overall natural function" and ambla, an "anti-irritant, antioxidant-rich berry popular in Ayurvedic remedies," the firm claims. Foaming Cleanser (4.2 oz. for $24) is a "mild, non-irritating cleanser that cleans deep into pores, removing oil, makeup and other impurities without overdrying," the company said. Acne Relief Pads (50 pads for $36) gently exfoliate and "instantly unclog pores and help eliminate the formation of blackheads to keep skin clear and prevent future breakouts," according to Aveda. The line's Spot Relief formula (1.7 oz. for $38) works to prevent future blemishes and reduce the appearance of redness, while Acne Relief Lotion (0.5 oz. for $28) helps clear blemishes, control oil and minimize the appearance of pores. Aveda also is introducing two professional-use only skin care formulas under Outer Peace in July - Exfoliating Formula and Professional Cooling Masque. All Outer Peace products will retail in Aveda salons, spas, stores and online at aveda.com, the company said. - Melina Vissat |
