TSA eases carry-on rule

Airline passengers are permitted to carry limited amounts of liquids, gels and aerosols on flights after the Federal Transportation Security Administration adjusted its regulations governing carry-on items Sept. 26. According to the new rules, passengers are allowed to carry travel-sized toiletries (sized 3 oz. or less) on-board as long they fit "comfortably" in one quart-size, clear plastic zip-top bag. Passengers also are allowed to carry items purchased in the secure boarding area onto flights. "It is unlikely that further adjustments to the ban on liquids, gels and aerosols will be made in the near future," TSA says, noting it is enhancing "visible and not visible" airport security measures in the meantime.
