The U.S. National Nanotechnology Initiative, a large-scale research effort across numerous federal agencies with a goal of responsibly managing nanotechnology, will spend $37.5 mil. on nanotechnology-related environmental, health and safety research and development in 2006 and $44.1 mil. in 2007, the U.S. Office of Science and Technology Policy reports during the FDA Nanotechnology Task Force meeting in Bethesda, Md.
