L’Oréal receives OSHA award

L'Oréal says it has achieved its goal of obtaining Voluntary Protection Program status for all of its U.S.-based factories with the April 9 certification of its sixth and final plant. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration awarded the firm's Florence, Ky. plant with the VPP "Star" flag, OSHA's highest health and safety award denoting acceptance into the VPP, which recognizes and promotes workplace safety and health performance in factories. "We put the health and safety of our employees first and have achieved VPP compliance in all of our manufacturing facilities with their active collaboration," says Vince Serpico, senior vice president, corporate manufacturing, L'Oréal USA. The company made a commitment to pursue VPP status for all of its U.S.-based factories in November 2003. More than 1,700 worksites in more than 270 industries have earned entry into the program...
