Public hospitals Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital and Beijing Friendship Hospital will test a program to separate drug sales from hospitals this year. To compensate for their losses, the Beijing government will fully fund their expenditures on construction, purchase of facilities, R&D, staff retirement, public hygiene maintenance, emergency handling, and provision of public health services. The program is intended to encourage the correct use of medicines in health institutes by eliminating drug sales from their sources of income.
