China FDA’s Commissioner Zhang Yong discussed China’s drug safety challenges and said the country still faces hurdles including developing a pharma integrity system. Moving forward, the commissioner said the focus will be on changes to laws such as Food Safety Law and Pharmaceutical Management Law, stronger supervision and better evaluation of risks. He also stressed improving new drug review and approval, accelerating consolidation of low-grade production with high-quality manufacturing.
