Executive Summary
Bio-Rad Laboratories is buying Sanofi Diagnostics from Sanofi-Synthelabo in order to increase its mass, goegraphical scope, and diversity of product lines. Bio-Rad, which has life sciences and analytical instruments businesses in addition to a clinical diagnostics business, makes a number of assays and it is looking to increase its presence in infectious diseases, where Sanofi is strong.
