Evaluate’s fourth quarter data show that biopharma venture capital fundraising fell from $4.28bn in in Q3, but there was a rise in smaller deals and financial market conditions are poised for a turnaround.

Private Company Edition: Playground’s third fund has $410m for tech, including biotech, Pivotal Life Sciences closed its second fund with $389m and Chugai will invest $200m through its new fund. Also, Tome launched with $213m, Sudo raised a $116m series B and Odyssey closed a $101m in series C.

Private Company Edition: Revelation Partners amassed $608m, Bioluminescence Ventures emerged with $477m and Abingworth raised $356m for late-stage programs. In recent financings, MapLight closed a $225m series C round while Triveni launched with $92m and Gate garnered $60m in series A rounds.
