Sanofi-Aventis buys 25% stake in Zentiva for €430mm

Executive Summary
Giving it a stronger presence in the European branded generics market, Sanofi-Aventis has acquired a 25% stake in Czech pharmaceuticals company Zentiva. For a total of €430mm ($518mm), Sanofi bought approximately 9.5mm shares--7.5mm shares previously held by Zentiva's former largest shareholder Warburg Pincus, and rest from current and former Zentiva managers and employees.
