Executive Summary
Diabetes management company Insulet brought in $50mm through a private financing led by first-time investor OrbiMed Advisors. Other new backer Federated Kaufman Fund was joined by returning shareholders Alta Partners, Pequot Ventures, Prism Venture Partners, Schroeder Ventures Life Sciences, and Versant Ventures. The company has developed the OmniPod insulin delivery system that incorporates the handheld Personal Diabetes Manager to measure blood glucose levels using a single device.
