AstraZeneca PLC licensed one of its clinical development compounds to drug development start-up Flexion Therapeutics (attempts to take Big Pharma's shelved candidates through proof-of-concept faster and cheaper than the traditional development process). The deal has the possibility of expanding through the addition of more molecules if Flexion does well with the first one.
