Alios BioPharma (small-molecule and protein therapeutics for viral diseases) has pulled in $8.4mm through the first tranche of its Series A financing of preferred shares. Lead investors Novo Ventures and Novartis Ventures were joined by Roche Venture Fund. The company could raise a total of $24mm in the round.
