Executive Summary
PhotoThera (stroke therapy) has raised $50mm through the closing of its Series D venture round. Warburg Pincus led the financing and was joined by fellow existing backers Vertical Group, Hamilton BioVentures, Delphi Ventures, DeNovo Ventures, Solstice Capital, and members of Monterey Advisors. PhotoThera will use the proceeds to fund a redesigned Phase III trial of NeuroThera--an infrared laser to noninvasively treat ischemic stroke--because its last study did not meet primary endpoints. The company has brought in over $100mm to date.
