Executive Summary
Dentsply International Inc. (dental implants and other devices) has agreed to pay $1.8bn in cash to acquire AstraZeneca PLC’s dental and urology device unit Astra Tech AB. The purchase will move Dentsply into the number three market position for dental implant manufacturing, behind Straumann Holding and Nobel Biocare.
