Executive Summary
Affymetrix has formed a new genomics division, called Perlegen Sciences Inc., that will have exclusive rights to its whole wafer DNA scanning technology. Affymetrix is bringing in about $100mm from third parties to help fund the new unit, and retains a substantial stake in it.
