One Hospital Tackles Pharmacy Purchasing
Unlike other health care suppliers, drug manufacturers generally won't negotiate discounted pricing directly with hospitals--they use group purchasing organizations to set prices and target doctors for their sales pitch. But St. Barnabas Health Care Systems in NJ, the state's largest integrated delivery system, has begun to explore ways to negotiate directly.
