Smiths widens haemodialysis offerings:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Smiths Medical MD, the St Paul, Minnesota-based medical delivery division of Smiths Group (London, UK), has included medCOMP's Split Stream catheters into its haemodialysis product range. The device features a split tip design for high flow rates with low venous pressures; less than 1% recirculation; and low rates of blockages occurring in the catheter. It allows doctors a choice of two insertion techniques - standard or retrograde - according to their preference. The catheter is also designed for greater patient comfort and enhanced user-friendliness. Aside from Split Stream, Smiths also offers a line of haemodialysis catheters, TruFlow, that have a staggered design tip.
