Q4 earnings fall for Orthofix but robust stimulation sales propel spinal growth

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Higher operating expenses led to a 24% drop in fourth-quarter earnings for Huntersville, North Carolina-based Orthofix International, with net income for that period falling from $9.5m in 2004 to $7.2m the following year. However, a windfall of $37.4m, which came from the settlement of a long-running lawsuit with Kinetic Concepts, propelled full-year profits for 2005 to $73.4m (+115%).
