Executive Summary
Former Chattem VP, secretary and general counsel is unsuccessful in attempt for the Democratic nomination for Congress representing Tennessee's third district. Jolly loses in Aug. 4 primary to local property assessor Randy Button. In seven-way race, Jolly held 23% of the vote, compared to Button's 25%. Chattanooga-based attorney and former head of the Hamilton county Democratic party organization Whitney Durand also won 23% of the vote. Jolly resigned from Chattem in January after approximately 16 years with the company. He spent the previous seven years at Miles. Jolly's bid to succeed Marilyn Lloyd in Congress was his first run for political office
