FDA AHA STUDY SHOWS NO EFFECT ON HYDROQUINONE, MUSK XYLOL ABSORPTION, FDA Office of Cosmetics and Colors Chief of skin absorption and metabolism Robert Bronaugh, PhD, reported at the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel meeting Dec. 17. Conducted by the Cosmetic and Colors Office in conjunction with the agency's Office of Beltsville Technical Operations, the study found that "no increase in penetration of hydroquinone and musk xylol was observed" after a pretreatment of 5% and 10% glycolic acid on hairless guinea pigs.
