China To Offer Free Screening For Cervical, Breast Cancers

China plans to provide cervical-cancer screening free to 10 million women in the rural parts of the country. Under the Health Ministry plan, 1.2 million women also are to receive free breast-cancer exams. The program is based on statistics that show more than 100,000 cases of cervical cancer a year in China, equal to 20 percent of the world's cases. The programs are part of the country's $124 billion healthcare reform effort in the rural parts of the country.
